Add on Valance Rails |
|
These come either in specific lengths or as large rolls
for contract work which are cut to the required lengths, the fixings are
supplied separately in bulk. Rolls can be up to 40m. |

Integrated Valance Rails |
|
These are as the name suggests integrated with specific
curtain tracks. Some of these can be used as stand alone or add on valances. We
would always recommend that if you require a valance rail that you try to get
one that is directly compatible with the track that you have.
Our illustration is of the Swish Duo track and valance
which has been very popular. |

Pelmet Boards and Shelves |
In many ways this is the preferred way of attaching a
valance.
It provides a very strong platform to hang the track from as well as any
decorative Swags and Tails. The illustration here
is of a pelmet with shorter tracks to take Swags and Tails. |

How to make a Valance Shelf |
|
|
Here is how to make your own valance shelf and links to
where you can buy the special brackets online. |
Firstly you will need the following timber and brackets.
The shelf itself can be made from various material, we normally used redwood
dressed of dimensions 150mm x 21mm. You can buy this at most timber merchants
and DIY stores.
The brackets come in two varieties, those that are used for the ends of the
shelf where there may be enough room to fit them, and those that normally go in
the centre of the shelf.
End Brackets
Centre Brackets
You can use most types of wood screw for securing the
brackets to the wall and shelf although we would recommend SPAX for both, you
may also want to check out our page on
Walls and Fixings
for tips on secure fixing of the brackets to the wall. Where architrave
is available you can often secure the shelf straight onto the architrave. |
|
The pictures have the detailed instructions in them, the
starting point is to place a centre bracket at the desired height and to level
and fit everything else in relation to this bracket. |

|
Although the bay in the illustration is a Double Right
Angle Bay, the same technique is used whatever the angle. |
 |
|
Valances are mostly secured to the pelmet
shelf using Velcro which is stapled onto the pelmet and sewn into the heading of
the valance. |
