Possible the easiest, fastest
to assemble, as well as being strong, Spur shelving is widely
available in most large DIY stores as well as many local hardware
stores. Different brands
are available and include the original Spur and also Element
shelving. You should note that although some brands are compatible
with each other, some are not, i.e. the spurs and the uprights may
not fit together. Spur sizes and spacing of the slots in the
uprights may also vary.
If the uprights are being fitted to a concrete of stone wall then
the holes can be drilled through the uprights and the Rawl Plugs
pushed through, which will save a lot of time during assemble. For
plasterboard and lathe and plaster walls we would recommend using
Spring Toggles unless the Spurs are particularly short and the
shelves are only intended for lightweight use. See the following
page for more information on fixings
walls and fixings
. For the shelves
we would recommend Contiboard (this has a laminated finish) MDF and
Braelum Pineboard of at least 18mm thickness. |
