Possible one of the most elegant
and believe it or not the strongest and most rigid of
our shelving solutions. As the example in the top
picture illustrates a large amount of weight and when we
went back to do some more work six years later still
straight as a die with absolutely no sagging !
Manufacture is quite easy, first
build a frame as per the bottom picture and then glue
with grabs like nails or similar adhesive (be liberal)
6mm MDF onto the frame. For corners build the frames as
per normal and be sure to overlap the MDF to strengthen
the weak points.
We normally used 21x45mm
redwood dressed for the framing, but for longer spans
and wider shelves the frame could be made from say
21x70mm redwood dressed. |
